Snoozeday

I am totally failing on the blogging front this week. I think I'm getting sick, I'm super tired and my brain is just not functioning. It hurts. My brain hurts. It's on strike.

So, because I have no brain to tell me what to write, let's try something new: Survey time!

Do you sleep with your closet doors open or closed?
At my parent's house, always closed. The inside of the closet door is lined with a mirror, which we all know is a gateway to the other side. So the door has to be closed at night or else ghosts will come haunt me.
I'm completely serious.
At my apartment, the closet doors always open because it's in my bathroom. I do close the bathroom door at night, though.

Do you take the shampoos and conditioner bottles from hotel?
Always. And then I put them in my bathroom and never use them.

Do you sleep with your sheets tucked in or out?
When I make my bed, I always tuck my sheets in. But they come untucked within a night or two. Then they stay untucked until the next Sunday. Sunday is sheet washing and bed making day.

Have you ever stolen a street sign before?
Nope. I'm a big fan of obeying the law.

Do you like to use post-it notes?
I adore post-its.

Do you cut out coupons but then never use them?
All the time. Speaking of, anyone with kids interested in a "Buy One Adult Ticket, Get One Child Ticket" free coupon for the Baton Rouge Zoo? Cause, I..uh..have two.

Would you rather be attacked by a big bear or a swarm of a bees?
Big bear. Bugs terrify me. At least bears are fuzzy.

Do you have freckles?
A few on my face. They're all over my arms and shoulders.

Do you always smile for pictures?
If I'm in the mood. If I'm not in the mood to smile, I make pathetic faces.

What is your biggest pet peeve?
Oh, it changes daily. Let's see..today I would have to say people who can't park.

Do you ever count your steps when you walk?
Almost always.

Have you ever peed in the woods?
What happens in Girl Scouts stays in Girl Scouts.

What about pooped in the woods?
Girl Scouts wasn't that intense.

Do you ever dance even if theres no music playing?
There's music in my head...

Do you chew your pens and pencils?
Always. That's why I generally don't like to lend them out.  I don't know where your hands have been.

How many people have you slept with this week?
None.  But that's none of your business anyway.

What size is your bed?
Full.

What is your song of the week?
Whatever is playing on the Ben Folds Pandora Station.

Is it okay for guys to wear pink?
It's more than ok.

And now, it's time for 30 Day Photo Challenge Day 8: Technology!

This picture includes my three most used pieces of technology: My MacBook Pro and my Vizio TV are shown and this picture was taken with my iPhone. I'm an Apple girl through and through. I love Apple. Apple loves me.

And yes, that is Storage Wars on the TV. Like I said, my brain's broken, so I gave myself an afternoon off to lie in bed and be sleepy. And Storage Wars addicting! Don't judge.

Day 7: Something New?

Today's picture bothers me.

I don't have anything particularly new.  And I had a rough weekend.  And a rough Monday.  And I have a test tomorrow.

My head is not fit for blogging.  It's not even fit for thinking.

Hmmmm.....

Ooh! I did change around my schedule for next semester.  So I guess you could say that's now new!

Yeah....let's go with that.

I have a tendency to take on what a lot of people would consider to be a heavy course load at school.  The past three semesters, I've taken 17 hours each.  It's been tough at times.  It's been hectic at times.  I've dropped the ball a few times.  But 17 hours is similar to the course load I had in high school.  It's what I'm used to. I keeps me busy.  I'm happy with it.

Last night, I got to thinking about how much I'm hating taking Spanish during the regular semester.  The course is rather disorganized, due date and assignments are always changing, and don't even get me started on the stupid and dysfunctional online homework we have to do.  Spanish classes just require a lot more nitpicky attention than I'm able to give it during the normal semester, so I decided to take it during Summer session.  I like Summer session.  It keeps my brain functioning during the summer.

And the idea of taking fewer than 17 hours next semester was appealing to me.  Appealing like a bad biker boy or that extra slice of cake; like something I shouldn't do, but I'm going to do it anyway. Sure, I could continue this 17 hours thing.  OR, I could take less than 17 hours and have a little more time to myself. :)

But no Spanish until Summer left me at 13 hours next semester, which is just not a good number.  Sooooo, I decided to take ballet next semester to bump my hours up to the much luckier 14!  I took beginning ballet during Summer session this past summer and absolutely loved everything about it.  I'm super excited about taking intermediate next semester and getting to learn some more.  And oh my goodness, ballet is good exercise. That definitely doesn't hurt. :)

So to celebrate this new schedule and taking some more time for myself next semester, I leave you with this:

That's me....being a...graceful..ballerina...*sigh* See?  I really need more classes!

Day 6: Childhood Memory

The ISFJ started young.

Struggles and Love

I have a lot of trouble accepting when things are out of my hands.  I have a hard time accepting that things aren't my fault.  It's one of my ISFJ quirks.

For example, my break-up (Yes, I'm talking about that again, I'll try to keep it short).  I've been told that there's nothing I could do to change the outcome, that I can't fix it.  I've been told that it had absolutely nothing to do with me. But no matter what I do, no matter how many people tell me otherwise, I simply cannot believe that this break-up had absolutely nothing to do with me.  I won't go into detail, but this break-up was unexpected.  Like, out-of-the-blue, blindsided, "Where the hell did that come from?!" unexpected.  I can't get it out of my head that I must have done something to make the other half want to step out of the relationship. What could I have done differently? Should I have been more attentive? Where there huge, flashing signs that I just didn't see?  How could my relationship just end so abruptly and it have absolutely nothing to do with me?  How can someone choosing to cut me out of their life have absolutely nothing to do with me?

I struggle with this so much.  It consumes me.  It's the last thing I think of when I go to bed and the first thing I think of when I wake up in the morning.  I see things that remind me of him and all I can think is, "What did I do to make the relationship not worth the time or effort anymore?  What did I do to make someone think that their life was better off without me? What did I do to drive him away from me?"  I try to distract myself.  I try to ignore these thoughts.  I hide them and ignore them and keep myself busy until I just can't take it anymore and I start sobbing while I'm brushing my teeth or sitting in class or folding my laundry because I just don't understand.  I hide it until it hits me like a wall and knocks me out.  I keep asking, "When will this start to get easier?  Why isn't this getting easier?"  But I know it can't get any easier until I can get these thoughts out of my head.  And as much as I try, these thoughts don't look like they plan on leaving anytime soon.  It's hard to not just give up and let them take over.

No revelations.  No ideas.  Sometimes, you need to just write your emotions out and put them out there.    Because hiding emotions is definitely not working for me.

Well, oops.  Well, I did only say I'd TRY to keep the break-up talk short.  I didn't make any promises.

Let's move onto something more positive, shall we.  Perhaps something like....

Day 5: Someone I Love!

Blogisphere, meet Papaw.  Papaw gets more than one picture because I love him that much.

I have a special love for and bond with all of my Grandparents.  But Papaw is the one most involved in my day to day life.  I've lived within a block of him my entire life.  I can see his pride in me in his eyes every time I walk in the room, but he won't hesitate to call me out when I'm being irrational.  He's my Papaw and he is someone I love.

Day 4: Favorite Color

I've never really given "favorite color" much thought.  I like blues, I like greens, I like yellows and reds. I thought i was pretty much an equal opportunity color-er. But recently, I noticed I was starting to give one color more attention over the others.  My lap top case, my phone case, some of my favorite tops were all this color.

And I realized, "Oh,  I guess my favorite color's purple."  This is really all I have to show you because my room is actually decorated in blue, green, and yellow.  But my laptop and phone pretty much go wherever I go and I love that their cases are purple.

Can I have this, please?

What's your favorite color? Do you have one or do you love them all equally?

New Beginnings, Jr.

I consider it a personal victory every time I make it to my morning bus on time.  If I can just get up, ready and out in time to catch that bus and get to class, the rest of the day is cake.

No such cake today.

This morning, I made it to the bus on time.  I got my favorite seat and everything was going smoothly until the bus made it to campus. As soon as I stepped off the bus, I felt a tug on my shoulder, followed by the sound of metal hitting the pavement.

My purse strap broke.   Ugggghhhhhhhhhhh.   So, looking like a goof, I held the purse until I could get to class and stuff it in my backpack and focused on the positive of the situation:  Sure, the purse I adore was broken beyond repair. But at least I get to go shopping! I'm a big fan of retail therapy.  Who doesn't feel awesome wearing a new outfit?

Classes finished, I had a uneventful bus ride home and made my way to the mall. And about 5 minutes into shopping, I remembered that I absolutely hate shopping for purses.

I have no problem clothes shopping.  You see something you like.  It's in your budget and size. You buy it.  You wear it when you want.

But (for me, at least) purse shopping is a completely different ball game.  You're not just shopping for something to wear every now and then.  You're shopping for something that has to go with the majority of your outfits that you are going to carry with you every. single. day.

That's a big decision!  Seriously, it took me two hours of wandering around the mall, being chased down by perfume and make-up saleswomen (One even came up to me in the purse section and tried to put liquid concealer on my face!  Don't they have a electric fence or something that keeps them contained?), dodging strollers and toddlers and weighing the pros and cons of different styles, colors, sizes, etc while considering budget.  It's exhausting.   Luckily, I eventually ended up with 2 purses that I love and were both within my budget.

And now I want to share my spoils with you :)  Because no matter how much of a pain purse shopping can be, a new purse is kind of like a mini new beginning.  It's new, it's clean, everything is organized.  You stand a little taller and walk with a little skip in your step when you're carrying a new purse.  And it's got that new purse smell!

Purse #1:

Isn't this adorable? It's Liz Claiborne, who I'm a big fan of for purses. It's a little bigger than I was originally planning on getting, but I love that it's got a little handle at the top as well as the strap, which can be adjusted to make it a shoulder bag or a cross body bag.  I will quit bringing a purse to school, though, because of its size.  It will probably stay nicer longer too.  And it got my mom's seal of approval, which is of course incredibly important. :)  $27.99 (btw, if you're in the market for a purse, go to JC Penney.  It seems like the purses are always on sale there!)

After I chose this purse, I was feeling confident and a little more energetic, so I decided to do a victory lap through the clearance section and found this!

Purse #2:

I got this for nights out or at the theater when I don't need everything I carry in my everyday purse.  It's Nicole Miller.  I love the color and the design and it was only $10.00!  (Seriously, go to JC Penney!)

Does anyone else have the same problems I do when purse shopping?  What do you do to make the decision easier?  Am I just crazy?  How does a new purse make you feel?

And now, it's time for Day 3 of the 30 Day Photo Challenge: Clouds!

I took this picture around 6:00 PM yesterday evening.  That bright spot towards the middle of the picture is the moon.  There were two long clouds that intersected and looked like an "X" with the moon in the very center.  It looked like "X Marks the Spot" and the moon was the treasure!  The line-up only lasted a few minutes, but it was very cool.  I wish I could have gotten a better picture of it.  Did anyone else see this?

Whew! What a long day it's been!  Time to put on some PJs and make some cookies!  Night, y'all!

Day 2: What I Wore

It's a good thing that "What I Wore" fell on a Wednesday.  On Wednesday afternoons I work in a small jewelry store, so I had a cute outfit to show you.  Any other day, you would have just gotten jeans and a sweatshirt.

Here you are!  See what I meant about white shirts and cardigans?  I couldn't get a good picture of the jewelry I wore, but I'm wearing a pretty necklace with pearls that my friend gave my for my high school graduation and some (fake) pearl drop earrings.  And since I'm on my feet all afternoon, my only shoe option is flats.  Sometimes I'll be daring and wear a pair of heels, but I always regret it at the end of the day.

The second picture was me trying to get a picture of my earrings.  You can barely see them, but I'm posting it anyway just because I like the picture.

Nothing much to report other than that.  I'm sad today, so any post I write is just going to be a downer.  In fact, I tried writing a little mini-post at the bottom of this and it was so depressing that I deleted it.  So it's probably best that I just leave it at that.

Stay tuned for Day 3!  And maybe a slightly less "woe-is-me" blogpost.
